my favorite new records

Postby tnoz » Mon May 08, 2006 1:14 am

Doing a little procrastinating here, so I thought I'd list my favorite new records I've bought:

Beirut - Gulag Orkestar
Comus - First Utterance
Aloha - Some Echoes
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones
I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness - Fear Is On Our Side
Ladybug Transistor - Albemarle Sound
Soul Sides - Volume One
Pearl Jam - [avocado]
Fiery Furnaces - Bitter Tea
Kelley Stoltz - Below the Branches
Glissandro 70 - s/t
Shogun Kunitoki - Tasankokaiku
Colossal Yes - Acapulco Roughs
Paul McCartney - Chaos and Creation in the Backyard

Does anyone want to do a "if you like that s you will like this s" and give me something guaranteed to be mindblowing?

What have YOU been consuming, in an endless effort to justify your existence?

i was tempted to order Armalite, new ERGS! and new paint it black last week but will be going to NYC this week and figure i might be able to find it in a store up there. What I've bought/downloaded from this year the new defiance ohio is cool and so is the new springsteen. The new flaming lips is relatively disappointing when compared to the soft bulliten and yoshimi battles...but its growing on me.

Yeah I don't know how I feel about that F Lips either. It seems really loud, like it has been mastered by a demon or something?

It is is very good. It suffers from the same problem their last few records do--it has a few lame rock songs (tho only on Matt Cameron co-writing credit on it), but after the first five songs it's really good. It sort of sounds like a mix between Riot Act / Ten / The Who By Numbers!
