NWers on greyhound tour to benefit Honduras seek show help!

Postby MASA Records » Thu Dec 23, 2010 6:54 pm

hey everybody!

my name is Matt Fu and I am coming through on a 56-day winter greyhound tour with my friend Caitlin who performs as autococoon. My project is called 1985 and is a full band back home, but just me on tour. We are both based in the northwest (Seattle and Olympia) and live at house venues up here and LOVE booking shows for new friends from faraway places! The tour is a benefit tour and outreach for Caitlins coming trip with the Honduras Accompaniment Project to Honduras to help folks who are living in troubling times there since the 2009 coup overthrew the elected president Zelaya. This will be my 14th tour around the country but Caitlins 1st and we are both excited about it and I am excited about doing another greyhound tour. We release our music on the not-for-profit record label I started in 1998, MASA Records. The label seeks to donate most to all of the money brought in from the sale of albums to various charities of social, cultural and political concerns.

We are coming through NOLA on Jan 23rd or Jan 24th and I am sorry the date is coming up so quick (we were waiting to book the tour around Caitlins san francisco training for her trip and they didnt announce the dates until super late) but we would really love any and all help folks might be able to provide. we prefer diy spaces, infoshops, coffeeshops, basements and living room shows, but are open to anything! my email is masarecords@gmail.com if you want to get a hold of us...

Caitlin has some organizational support around the country and, if it seemed appropriate for the event, she could help find some speakers/activists to talk about central/south american affairs. but we are open to just playing a fun show, as well, and meeting some new friends.

though, I have done a lot of touring, this will be my first time EVER to new orleans, so I am super excited! (Caitlin was there last spring with a school project through Evergreen State College and she loves the gulf coast ecology).

we hope to hear from you soon and thanks in advance for any help y'all might have!

love comma

having a super tough time even hearing back from folks in New Orleans, bummer. just wanted to update that we are gonna be visiting (and hoping to play a show) on jan 25th.

if anyone has any ideas for a couple of kids on a greyhound bus trying to raise money for honduras activism, please send us an email. we both live at all-ages spaces/houses and book shows here in the northwest and could return the favor, if desired...

thanks so much!
